About me
About me
My expertise as a production technician is impressive, having built up through over 19 years in the industry, including providing technical and logistical support to production and technical staging companies throughout the UK and beyond.
Developing my craft
Audio-Visual Technician
It all started at AV Services (Glasgow) in 1989. I was employed by a very successful and busy audio-visual hire, sales and servicing company. I gained equipment knowledge, show experience and installation skills while working in the major technical disciplines - audio-visual, vision, sound and lighting.
Warehouse Technician
In 1996, I was approached by PSL (London) and so moved south. Working in-house on the preparation side of the rental company, and as part of a team, testing the range of specialist equipment before despatch, meant I increased my equipment knowledge and operational skills.
Technical Operations Manager
I accepted a new challenge from Apex (Macclesfield) in April 1997 to become their Technical Operations Manager. The main focus within the role was on production management - from recces, pricing jobs, sourcing equipment and crewing, through to on-site technical management. Other responsibilities included improving operating techniques within the technical side of the company, redesigning the warehouse layout, implementing and commissioning Navigator’s HireTrack (rental management software), maintaining the fleet of technical equipment and managing staff within the department.
PowerPoint Graphics Operator
Audio-Visual Technician
Vision Technician
With this experience, I returned to London to begin freelancing in October 1997, formally trading as Hanger13.
Work initially began with specialist audio-visual and video equipment rental companies. Then I broadened my client base to encompass agencies, consultancies, production companies and freelance production personnel. Working with their clients means I help all types kinds of organisations including top blue-chip companies and brands - Bayer, BP, CIPR, Eversheds, HSBC, Johnson & Johnson, PWc, Nokia, TNT, Vodafone to name but a few.
Moving forward
I recently decided to present my business in my own name - Mark Semple. Now established with an impressive client base, I am proud of my reputation, which earns repeat business and praise from fellow colleagues and clients.
My work with a range of technical operations, which may be at board or senior management level, often brings me into contact with highly sensitive and privileged information. You can rely on me to deal with your projects, and any information you give me, in the strictest confidence.
I've always looked forward to taking on new challenges. This means I make sure I'm up to speed with the latest developments and maintain the highest professional standards.
