A few words on accessibility…
I’m committed to meeting the requirements of the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA). I make every effort to ensure the accessibility of my website, and to make sure it is DDA compliant, for people with special needs, including those with visual, hearing, cognitive and motor impairments.

Standards compliance and validation
All my web pages use XHTML 1.0 mark-up, validated using the World Wide Web Consortium's (W3C's) validation service.
Pages use Cascading Style Sheets (CSS2) for presentation, validated using the World Wide Web Consortium's (W3C's) validation service.
My web pages have been checked to make sure they comply, as far as possible, with the Disability Discrimination Act (UK) and the World Wide Web Consortium's (W3C's) web content accessibility guidelines.

Alternative text
All content images used on my web pages include descriptive alternative text or 'ALT' text. If an image is used for decorative purposes, the text attribute for the image is left empty. This is in line with accepted best practice.
Colour
Foreground and background colours on my web pages have been selected to provide a proper level of contrast for ease of reading.
Throughout the site, colour is never used as a sole means to convey information.
Downloads
Documents that can be downloaded from my web pages are PDFs (portable document format). The advantage of a PDF is that it will always be presented consistently. You’ll need Adobe's Acrobat Reader (which is free to download and use) to open PDF files. This software now includes screen-reading features.
Adobe also has a free online conversion tool for PDFs so people who have problems reading PDFs can convert them so that they appear as normal web pages or plain text.
There are two ways to download a PDF file:
-
Right click on the PDF link, select 'Save Target As...' from the pop-up menu and download the PDF to your hard drive.
-
Open the PDF directly from the link, then click on the 'Save' icon on the Acrobat toolbar, which will then save the PDF file to your hard drive.
Logical tab order
It is possible to move around my website using only the 'Tab' key on your keyboard. The 'Tab' key jumps between all hyperlinks or form controls on a page in a logical order.
Options for Mac users
There are full instructions on making use of the various versions of the Macintosh operating system's accessibility features. These include resizing text, text-to-speech function and keyboard alternatives to mouse functions. For more information, visit the accessibility section on Apple's website.
Options for Windows users
Windows provides a wide range of features that can improve accessibility. These can be turned on by clicking on the 'Start' logo (at the bottom left of the screen), then selecting 'Control Panel'. You can then choose 'Accessibility Options'.
